THE PARE JOURNEY

            Pare is one of subdistrict in Kediri regency and east java province who has spectacular achievement. As a little town, Pare is known as an english village. It’s name is famous in around of Indonesia as a village that become purpose to them who wants to study english or to increase their english ability. And for it intention that we sent there.

            More than three weeks we had spent our holiday in Pare to study more about english. For each of us, three weeks could be too short to learn and mastery about english. But however, we have got spent our time to study english in Pare, at least our knowledge or skill about english might be increasing.

            There is many reasons why that Pare became such as famous village to study about english. As a student of one of the biggest english course institution in Pare namely Basic English Course (BEC), I’ll try to explain it with my experience for more than three weeks there and what is the special side of english learning in Pare, especially at BEC. But before it, I will explain about BEC as one of biggest english course in Pare and its contribution to make Pare became famous as an english village.

            BEC was found in 1977 and became one of pioneer in english course in Pare. It history couldn’t be detached from one name, Muhammad Kalend. Mr. Kalend is the founder of BEC and lead the institution till now. His merit is uncountable to make Pare just like we know nowadays. Under his handling, BEC and Pare were becoming a spectacular name to learning english. The economic movement of this village were growing drastic while hundreds english course others were grown.

            As the one of the biggest english course institution, BEC had graduated many students who has good ability to use english for it necessary. Several times this course has covered by some television station. It makes this course is the famous english course in Pare and hunted by many students candidate.

            BEC as an english course institution has many superiority compare with the others english course institution in Pare. As one of pioneer of english course in Pare, it is one of superiority that BEC hold it. Beside it, the superiority of BEC can divide from their human resource and the values system that they have built it. Talking about their human resources is couldn’t be detached from the BEC’s leader Mr. Kalend. He has strong influence in BEC history until BEC became as big as now. I think Mr. Kalend was such a great leader. He leads the institution with strongly principe, such as discipline, tidiness, honesty, sportifity, resoluteness and familiarly. And he was became the first model to perform those principe. Maybe it is the most important reason that BEC could developt their values system. In every lesson meeting, all theachers always come on time. And twice that we had class with Mr. Kalend is always he is the first person that had coming. Some teachers said that Mr. Kalend always comes ten minutes before the event were begin. He was a key figure on BEC expansion.

            All of teachers in BEC also have a good personality. As a student in BEC program, we feel so enjoy and warmly when we get their lesson. In every lesson moment, we got fun learning about english. They also tought us with creative method, sometime singing, sometime playing games, sometime discuss, speech, and many more method that makes us feel comfort and confident to pasticipate on their lesson. They also try to make unpredictable opening in their lesson, sometime ask us about our opinion about some topic, or just ask us about experience in our profession. Some teacher command us to do something like answer his questions, or get drilling about the matter day before.  With method that always involve us to participate in their lesson, its make the subject were fun and easy to understand.

            In students culture, we also can find a good habitual in their daily lesson activity. Its just like what Mr. Kalend has aplied as his principe. The students of BEC has good performance. They always look tidy with their dress. And they also discipline to attend in every event that BEC held. If we took round the BEC complex we also could find all students got their conversation with english. As long as we know, they really try to make conversation with english to their friends. In BEC, they also has rules that implementation resolutely. Such as a rule about penalty to them who didn’t speak english in BEC teritory. Not just lips service, but also they running the rules resolutely. Our teacher had ever said about student who sent out because he didn’t speak english when he got discuss with his friends in BEC teritory.

            About the daily activity in our english course program at BEC, it begin at 6.30 AM with Madam Anis. The matter is grammar. It running til 8.00. The following is Mr. Fakhrudin with matter New Concept til 9.30. From him we got some new vocabularies by read several article from the book. At 9.30 til 10.00 we get break and continue with matter of speaking with madam Atun till 11.30 AM.

            In the noon, we start at 1.30 PM with some students of BEC whom take special program called Mastery System (MS student). From them we get many about english songs and games. It running til 2.30. We got quite long rest in afternoon cause we continue our class at 7.30 til 9.00 PM with Mr. Hadi for the matter is speech.

During more than three weeks in Pare we were spent our day with those agenda, Monday til Saturday. It was a routine schedule in studying english in our daily. Although we were felt tire enough but we enjoy it. And we thought that one of reason why many people get increase their ability to speak english is because they had a focus actifity or study english in Pare. And with these conditions, however everyone could get their english better and better. They have a focus intention to come in Pare just for studying english. They get live ini here, they study english non-stop ini here, they focus their time to learn everythings about english in Pare. It might be one of key that Pare become a famous town that produce people who can speaks english well.  Actually we got many lesson from our studied in Pare. Not just increasing our english ability, but also about the education pattern, how to teach well as a teacher, and we got many wisdom or philosophycal values from Mr. Kalend and another teachers in BEC.
